Ona Fyr
Ona Lighthouse – A Hidden Gem on the Edge of the Ocean
Located on the small island of Ona in Romsdal, Ona Lighthouse stands proudly at the edge of the Norwegian Sea – a destination that truly feels like the end of the world. Getting there by motorcycle is part of the adventure: a peaceful ferry ride takes you from the mainland to the island, which slowly emerges from the horizon like something out of a fairytale.
Though small, Ona is rich in character. Narrow footpaths, old boat sheds, and charming houses are tightly packed together, offering shelter from the wind. At the highest point stands the lighthouse, built in 1867 and still in operation today – a proud symbol of Norway’s coastal heritage. The view from the top is breathtaking, offering panoramic scenes of open sea and endless sky.
Ona is a place that stays with you – in your body, your heart, and your memory. The atmosphere is quiet, genuine, and deeply peaceful. It’s easy to see why many people already have Ona on their bucket list – and why even more should.
