Northwest Coast of Norway
This was a roundtrip of about 850 km, starting and ending at the cabin in Surnadal. From there, we headed west towards Trollstigen – one of the most iconic mountain roads in Norway. The weather was mixed, but the view from the top was still worth the stop.
From Trollstigen we continued to Geiranger, where we took a short break and looked down at the fjord from the viewpoints along the road. The traffic was slow through the village – packed with tourists and buses – so we didn’t stay too long.
Next up was the old Stryn mountain road, which offered a nice contrast to the busier roads. Less traffic, slower pace, and some beautiful highland scenery. We found a quiet spot by a lake in Oppstryn and set up camp for the night.
The next day we rode through Stryn to Loen, and followed the road up to Loenvatnet. From there we continued to Olden, where we got a good look at the glaciers and the surrounding landscapes – again, filled with tourists but still impressive to see.
The final stretch took us back through fjords and valleys, with nice riding conditions most of the way. All in all, a varied and scenic tour through one of the most popular parts of western Norway.
